I am proud to announce my partnership with The Okapi Conservation Project, where I donate 25% of all profits from every copy of Poppi the Okapi that I sell. By supporting this project, we contribute directly to the conservation of the endangered Okapi species and their rainforest habitat in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Okapi is a remarkable and elusive animal, discovered by scientists in 1901. Despite its zebra-like stripes, it is actually the closest living relative to the giraffe. Tragically, the Okapi faces numerous threats, including farming, mining, and poaching.
The Okapi Conservation Project focuses on three essential approaches:
Wildlife Protection: Working closely with the Institute in Congo for Conservation of Nature, we actively combat threats by removing snares, apprehending poachers, and shutting down illegal mines.
Community Assistance: Our efforts extend to supporting local communities, addressing their basic needs, and improving their living conditions. Through initiatives like empowering women, promoting sustainable agriculture, and providing access to food, healthcare, and clean water, we aim to minimize their impact on the forest.
Conservation Education: We prioritize educating both children and adults about the importance of preserving the forest for the benefit of all its inhabitants, including animals, plants, and humans.
You too can make a difference in Okapi conservation! Start by raising awareness among your loved ones about the uniqueness of the Okapi as a species distinct from others.
